I was a member of the MDI-CU through much of the 90s. It Was an awsome experience. I presented the colors at the indy 500, brickyard 400, parades, memorial services, inauguration and hundreds of funerals. I miss it. Praise to these unsung heros.

When you Come and Visit the Philippines, pay a tribute to our fallen soldiers in Manila American Cemetery. The largest Military Cemetery overseas and it is located right in the heart of the City. I guarantee you that you will have a serene and eerie experience at the same time. And it is also one way of showing respect and honor to our fallen heroes during WWII in the fareast.

The actual experience of THE BATAAN DEATH MARCH were much HARSHER AND PAINFUL COMPARED to THIS experience. AMERICAN AND FILIPINO SOLDIERS WALKI ALL DAY IN THE HEAT OF THE SCORCHING SUN, WITH ALMOST NO FOOD AND WATER BEING GIVEN TO THEM! They could only get some rest if the Japanese soldiers wants to rest. IT WAS A DAY TO DAY TORTURE FOR THEM TO PAINFULLY DIE ONE BY ONE.

I really hope that there will be many who participated in this march if they could actually go to Bataan, Philippines to see where everything took place. I know tht we Americans always mispronounce Bataan as the Filipinos pronounce it Ba ta an. My wife was happy to correct me when I pronounced it wrong and I thank her for correcting me. If anyone ever does go to Bataan they should visit the Capas National Shrine in Tarlac. I'm sure if you go there you will get a better sense of the sacrifices that were made there in the name of Freedom. The Americans and Filipinos won the battle there as a team as blood brothers like Roberto De Ocampo said who is the nephew of the great Col. Emmanuel Valfor De Ocampo. He was one of the leaders of the Fighters ROTC Guerrillas. This man was a true hero and he had the true fighting spirit for his country of the Philippines and for Freedom.

My grand father faugt in WW2 and being sent by the Japs to death march his name is BUENAVENTURA (YAP) GOZE.A MEMBER OF USAFE.
